Based in the charming Regency town of Cheltenham, England and established in 1996, we have operated more than 1.5 million holidays in England, Ireland and continental Europe. At Albion Journeys we pride ourselves in offering something a little bit different; escorted tours that unlock Britain and Ireland’s amazing history often with behind the scenes tours and insights from the owners of the properties themselves.
Albion Journeys is partnered with a number of key heritage organizations based in the UK, working closely with both the National Trust and the Historic Houses Association, allowing us to give guests privileged, private access to their amazing properties. Albion Journeys is proud to pledge its support to these great causes helping to conserve our heritage for years to come.
We also operate a collection of tours in partnership with the Royal Oak Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation based in the US, with a contribution of the tour cost going to help the work of these two charities. We are very proud to have the backing of these two wonderful organizations.
Our tours allow you to delve a little deeper into our great heritage. The majority of our tours include a fascinating after-dinner talk by an expert in their field that promises to be both informative and engaging. Taking inspiration from the theme of our tour, you’ll be able to gain valuable insight into an aspect of the history, architecture or collections of the area you are visiting. We also provide reading lists on the majority of our tours allowing you to do a little background reading before the start of the tour, this is in no way compulsory though!
Your journey through Britain and Ireland’s colourful past won’t end after a day of excursions; we choose our principal hotels for their character and history. Our quality control team inspect all hotels prior to your arrival to make sure they meet your needs. They also all offer excellent service standards.

Our Tour Directors are there to assist you, to help make the most of our specially tailored itineraries and ensure that all of the organizational requirements of the daily programme are taken care of.

Albion is headed by Luis Arteaga, the Chairman & CEO. Of Spanish origin, Luis spent a number of years living in the US before moving to the UK and developing a love for all things British. On a day trip to a National Trust property, Luis was inspired to run tours for travellers to explore these fascinating properties a little further from home. As a result of this trip, a partnership was formed with the National Trust and the rest as they say is history!
Matthew Eastlake, Sales & Marketing Director
Matthew joined The JG Travel Group in 2016 to strengthen the Sales & Marketing team as the group planned to undergo significant expansion. His first role in travel came in 1995 as a Passenger Sales & Marketing Manager at P&O European Ferries. Since then he has held a number of senior Sales & Marketing positions across leading travel brands such as United Airlines, DFDS Seaways & World Challenge Expeditions (Tui Travel).
He holds an MBA from CASS University London, a Masters Diploma in Business Strategy & Innovation from Saïd Business School Oxford and the Executive Diploma in Digital Business from the ADBL.
Matthew lives in Cheltenham with his wife and has 3 grown up children who are all successfully enjoying life.

Susan Lethbridge, Business Development Director, U.S. & Canada
Susan is originally from the South West of England but she has been living in California and in Florida, over a long period of time. She has extensive experience in the travel industry, including management positions with several cruise lines offering destination-focused programs on small ships worldwide. Susan’s keen personal interest in educational travel led her to specialize in this niche with a strong focus on developing, marketing and selling group programs for a wide variety of affinity organizations including museums and university alumni associations. Susan has served on the Executive Advisory Council with ETC, the annual international Educational Travel Conference. She is based in Fort Lauderdale.
Our Heritage Manager, Melodie Robson, has a keen interest in history and the arts. She had previously worked in organising arts festivals in the South West of England. Melodie graduated from Canterbury, Kent University with a degree in English Literature and Film. She has a masters in British Cinema History and has regularly written about British film history for online publications. She also has a passion for art and has researched British Arts and Crafts and Pre-Raphaelite movements in the UK. Melodie uses her love for history and the arts to carefully craft our itineraries for your enjoyment and she is also on hand to talk to customers about any aspect of the tour.
Our Account Manager, Maddy joined Albion in 2009 having graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a degree in Events Management. Maddy has a love of travel and has taken time out over the years to explore many different parts of the World. She also enjoys traveling in England with the South West, Cornwall in particular, being a favourite spot of hers. As well as assisting customers with their travel plans Maddy also works with our UK and US partners.
